Consequence has announced a new partnership with CREATV University to create an entirely new kind of entrepreneurial hub of learning, mentorship, collaboration, and democratized access and opportunity for aspiring musicians and industry professionals.
Each week, Consequence will roll out a new set of videos on its CREATV University hub providing insight on topics like “Breaking Into the Industry”, “Making the Most of Streaming”, “Networking Do’s and Don’ts”, and “Tech and Entertainment”.
Featured guests include Troy Carter, former manager to Lady Gaga and John Legend; Jeff Clanagan, CEO of Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud; Perry Bashkoff, Instagram’s Head of Music; Rick Farman, co-founder of Superfly (creator of Bonnaroo); Evan Shapiro, producer of Portlandia; musicians DEVO and Clairo; and many more.
Led by Peter Csathy, head of the Los Angeles-based tech and media advisory firm CREATV Media, the initiative is designed to help young artists, students, and aspiring industry professionals break through the metaphorical gate and seize their dream opportunities. Csathy is widely recognized as being a leading voice, journalist and entrepreneur in the world of music, media and tech.
Among other things, he recently facilitated major deals relating to the classic music of iconic artists that include Boston, Devo, Air Supply, Count Basie and superstar Prince. Two decades earlier, he helped to transform the world of music-tech by negotiating the industry’s first on-demand streaming licenses. He began his career representing pioneering rap group N.W.A., Madonna and other major artists.
Csathy moderates each conversation, hearing their stories and breaking down their paths to succession with the goal of inspiring and educating the next generation of creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs.
“My wife, Luisa, and I started CREATV University during the pandemic as a way to give back to young people who are passionate about the worlds of music, media and tech,” said Csathy. “CREATV U’s mission is to give uniquely powerful access to the most influential and innovative creative and entrepreneurial minds in those worlds — diverse voices who play diverse roles across the business. Each of these individuals have immensely powerful stories to tell — wisdom and insights to offer. I am thrilled that Consequence shares my passion for CREATV U’s mission. Consequence gives CREATV U the opportunity to significantly expand its reach and overall impact.”
“When I started Consequence 15 years ago in my college dorm room, I was young, driven, and eager to conquer the world,” said Alex Young, Founder and Publisher of Consequence. “But then reality set in, and it became abundantly clear that I had a lot of learning to do to truly grasp the ins and outs of the industry. Back then I would have loved to have a platform like CREATV University to answer all my questions, so I’m especially glad we can provide such a resource to the next generation of creatives.”
