Songtrust, the world’s largest global publishing administration service, has announced several new hires and promotions as it continues to expand its client base and implement its mission to empower songwriters around the world.
Virginie Berger has been hired as SVP, Global Publishing & Society Relations.
Previously CEO of European rights hub Armonia and founder of digital rights advisory firm DBTH, among other roles, Berger brings more than two decades of rights management expertise and society relationships to Songtrust, bolstering its commitment to being a best-in-class partner to its network of global collection partners.
“Songtrust has already been successful in developing their relationship with rights holders and societies everywhere in the world and it has created a market-leading platform. I look forward to building on this circle of success so that we can enable all musical cultures to thrive in the global marketplace.
Part of my mission will be to expand internationally while ensuring a fair deal for everyone involved through simplicity and efficiency,” Berger said.
John Levy, a 30+ year information technology veteran, joins Songtrust as SVP, Technolgoy. Levy’s move from a successful decade-plus as a consultant into an in-house role as Songtrust speaks to his enthusiasm for Songtrust’s mission.
“It is an understatement to say that music is very much a part of my daily existence. I’m proud to be able to play a part in helping artists and writers sustain themselves. I love Songtrust’s role in making this process work for creators,” Levy said.
Songtrust President Molly Neuman says:
“The addition of Virginie and John to our team mark a significant milestone in the Songtrust story. They each have incredible track records in building resources and opportunities for music creators and complex technology solutions in their fields, and they will be crucial as we empower more and more songwriters and publishing rights holders around the world.”
In addition to these new hires, Darren Briggs has been promoted into a new role as EVP, Rights Administration, Product, & Technology.
Unifying the Rights Management, Product, and Technology teams under a single leader strengthens Songtrust’s speed and efficiency in registrations and royalty collections, responsiveness and adaptability to the dynamic global music market, and industry leadership in music rights products and services
SVP of Revenue and Client Strategy Rob Wetstone and VP of Creative and Partnerships Anna Bond make up Songtrust’s executive leadership team alongside Briggs and Neuman.
Songtrust relaunched its brand system and visual identity in October, working with branding firm Order on a new look, design system, and messaging protocol.
Also in October, Songtrust held its first-ever client conference, the Songtrust Summit, featuring more than three dozen artist, professional, and other expert speakers on panels with topics ranging from composing for video games, to maximizing global revenue, to digital marketing.
