Warner Music Group and TikTok Ink Expanded Licensing Agreement, as App Looks to Grow Its Upstart Streaming Service
The deal marks a major move on the part of Robert Kyncl, who became the CEO at Warner Music Group at the beginning of the year, to get a bigger share of the pie from TikTok, which many label execs have contended provides plenty of exposure for artists but not nearly the level of revenue sharing they’d like to see.

Paul McCartney launches 12-episode ‘A Life in Lyrics’ podcast
The show’s first season debuts on 20 September with 12 episodes digging into the themes and characters of songs including ‘Eleanor Rigby’, ‘Let It Be’ and ‘Penny Lane’ (as well as songs from McCartney’s Wings and solo eras).
TikTok launches its music streaming service in Australia, Mexico and Singapore
The streaming service lets users sync the service to their existing TikTok accounts and listen, download and share songs. The service includes the catalogs of major record companies, including Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Sony Music.
